so all i wanted was a nice, calm relaxed weekend with mama rose. how difficult does that sound? not so hard, right? WRONG!!! so i took the blue line to O'hare to meet her so she didn't have to try to find her way to my apartment on her own...she get's a little overwhelmed in the big city. so, after a little scare that i was at the wrong airport becuase i didn't remember she was flying through salt lake city, i found mama rose and her suitcase. so we hop on the blue line to come back downtown. i warned her in the airport that the ride over was pretty bumpy...so not to be freaked out if it wasn't the smoothest ride. WELL...little did i know it wasn't just your average ride home. the train was shaky, fine, then all the sudden i'm standing there and i'm thrown against the door and watch the train hop off the tracks and get pulled back on by those slinky like cables...now i know what they are for :) then the train comes to a screeching halt, there is some bullshit announcement that there is some equiptment malfunction, and we sit on the tracks for about 15 minutes. we eventually get moving again and make it back home...a little bruised but now worse for the wear. So what next??? We take a bus down to Nordstroms to hit up day one of the BIG SALE!!! So there we are, sitting on the 36 at Clark and Division and a man in a wheel chair needs to get on the bus. well he was new to his wheelchair, and clearly hadn't ridden a bus with it before. so he's having trouble and the bus driver was just sitting there watching. so then the passengers start arguing with the driver, which leads to the driver standing up and yelling at the whole bus that it is NOT in his job description to help the man operate his wheelchair, all he needs to do is buckle him in. so this is the beginning of a nice five minute argument. and poor mama rose is just like, where are all the nice midwestern people i remember??? so then we hit up the sale, it was lovely, and then a little Weber Grill for dinner. so we're sitting at the bar to have a drink while we wait for our table and my mom was on the phone, so i order our drinks and then i got carded for the first time in just about forever...it was so cute...so i take out my wallet to get my i.d. and my mom is like...NO NO it's on me...and i was like...well thank you, but i just got carded...and then she made fun of me :o)

so then we stuff our faces (that was pretty much the theme of the weekend i believe) and head back home. sunday we went on the chicago architectural boat tour...peppered with a whole lot more eating...then monday...shopped all day, with brief pauses for more eating...oh yeah and the pesky oral argument thing. on the bus on the way to the courthouse we were lucky enough to sit directly behind a lady with about 6 or 7 distinct personalities...and between all of them, they hated just about everyone and were arguing with one another about who they hate the most. then there was some red line problem, so the redline crazies invaded the bus. it was lovely. mama rose got to meet some school people, she enjoyed herself. it was lovely...then more dinner...and a highly successful attempt at avoiding tjuanne! then went home, hung out...waited for the phone NOT to ring...and that was that. now i'm back at school...hating life, and tonight i am looking forward to throwing away the hundreds of pages of research that i don't need anymore.

other than that, only other highlight of the weekend is that Eddie finally moved to Houston and got a new phone number. it's amazing how much better things have gotten in the past few weeks, not that they were ever not good...but since we've talked about a couple things, let me tell you, it's SOOOO much easier to be in a long distance relationship once you get that assurance that you boyfriend is not married (long story...if you don't know it, trust me you don't want to). countdown is on...38 days till i see him :o)...ok...done being a stupid girl now.
